The beautiful city of Pune, situated on the Deccan Plateau is about 200 kilometers from Mumbai. While the new expressway is a fast and convenient mode of getting from Mumbai to Pune, the train journey is more scenic. As a result, when I got the chance to visit Pune for a wedding, I lapped up the opportunity to book a train ride. The train takes you through one of the most beautiful scenic views that you’ll get of the Sahyadri range of the western ghats. The train moves through twists and turns of the hilly tracks and takes you through several tunnels on the way. I loved this ride and given the chance would do this again!

Below are a few pictures I took from the train. The pictures here aren’t technically very superior, however these are the best I could get, holding the camera with one hand, while hanging halfway through the doorway of the moving train balancing on the footboard.
